What information does Google need?
On top of the stuff that Google collects for all products, we also need some basic information from you to make Google Payments work well.
Sign-up information
- Your address and phone number
- Your birthday
- Information about your credit or debit card
- Information to confirm who you are
Sometimes, we might ask for a little more information to help check if everything is safe and secure.
Information from other places
- Information about your payments at stores
- Information about your bank and credit or debit card
Information when you buy something
- When and where you bought it and how much it was
- Whether you used a credit card or debit card
What does Google use my information for?
On top of the ways that Google uses your information for all products, we also use the information you give us to do things for Google Payments like:
- Help your payments go through smoothly
- Show you and your parents payments you made
- Give your parent help if you need it
- Help keep your information and money safe from bad guys
- Make sure you’re following the Google Payments rules
- Decide if your future payments are safe to go through
Does Google share my information?
On top of the ways that Google shares your information for all products, we may also share your information with others to make Google Payments work. Here are a few examples:

What controls do my parents have?
Here’s what your parents can do:
- Add new cards for you on Google Payments
- Get emails when you use your cards, and when a card is removed
- See your payments and remove payment cards in Family Link

Google works hard to help keep your information safe. You can help by keeping your passwords and PINs secret.
Important things to remember
- Be careful who you share your account with.
- Be careful who you let use your device.
- If you think your Google Payments isn't safe anymore, tell your parent.

On top of the stuff that Google collects for all products, we may also need to ask for other information to make sure Google Payments works for you.
Sign-up information
Here’s some of the information that we’ll store in your Google Account. Some data may be stored on your device.
- Address
- Phone number
- Date of birth
- Credit or debit card information
- Information to confirm who you are, like an ID
Sometimes, we may ask you to send us more information, or answer questions to help verify your information or identity.
Information from other places
We may get information about you from other places, such as:
- Information from your Google Payments transactions at stores
- Information about how you use your payment methods and accounts from other places that are linked to Google Payments
- Your bank or card issuer
- Benefits from your payment method
- Information about your payments from other places, to help make sure your account and payments are trustworthy
Information when you buy something
When you use Google Payments to buy something, we may collect information about the transaction, such as:
- The date, time, and amount
- The store's location and description
- How you paid
What does Google use my information for?
On top of the ways that Google uses your information for all products, we use the information you give us to do things like:
- Have someone help your parent if there are problems with your Google Payments (like customer service)
- Help keep you, others, and Google stuff safer from people who may try to take your information, or spend your money without your permission
- Help stores or other companies give you what you asked them for
- Make sure you’re following the rules for Google Payments
- Make decisions about your future Google Payments transactions
- Make sure you know about the other cool stuff your payment method does
We may keep the information you give us for as long as you use Google Payments, and maybe even longer if we need to to follow the law.
Does Google ever share my information?
On top of the ways that Google shares your information for all products, there are only a few other reasons why we may share your information with other people outside of Google, such as:
- If the law tells us we can
- To keep your account running, make sure your purchases go through, improve your account’s safety, protect you from someone trying to steal or trick you, or for our everyday business
- To help make sure your payment method is safe and still works
- To complete your requested registration for a service provided by other places
Google owns or controls some other companies. Sometimes we share your information with them if they need it for their everyday business. That includes any information we may get from other places, like the stores you shop at.
What controls do my parents have?
Here’s what your parent can do:
- Give in-person approval for every payment card added
- Get emails when you use your cards, and when a card is removed
- Review your Google Payments transactions and remove payment cards in Family Link
How does Google Pay keep my information safe?
Google does a lot to keep you safe, but it’s important that you keep your account passwords, PINs, and other important information secret.
Keep in mind:
- If you share your Google Account information with other places, they’ll have access to your Google payments profile and your personal information
- Be careful with who you let access your device or your Google Wallet app
If you think your Google Wallet app is no longer safe, ask your parent for help so they can let Google know.
