The Google Pay rewards program (“Google Pay rewards” or the “Program”) is subject to your compliance and agreement with the Google Pay Terms of Service and these Google Pay Rewards Terms (collectively, the “Agreement”). Any defined terms used but not defined in these Google Pay Rewards Terms have the meaning set forth in the Google Pay Terms of Service.
The Google Privacy Policy describes how we handle your personal information when you participate in the Program, and the Google Payments Privacy Notice provides additional information about how we handle your payments information.
Program Description and Opt- In. The Program is a part of the Google Pay service that provides you with access to various offers from Google Pay and participating merchants / partners (each a “Program Offer” or “Offer”). Offers allow you to earn rewards paid or provided to you by Google Pay (“Rewards”), or access discounts or benefits from merchants or other partners. You can earn Rewards from Program Offers by completing a qualifying payment (“Qualifying Payment”) or other action (“Qualifying Action”) as described in and subject to any offer specific terms that may accompany each Program Offer (“Offer Specific Terms”). You must follow the prompts or visit Settings in the Google Pay app to opt-in to receive Rewards from Google Pay. By opting-in or otherwise participating in the Program, you agree to the Agreement. If you do not agree to the Agreement, you must not opt-in to receive Rewards or participate in the Program. Participation in the Program is optional and if you do not want to receive Rewards from Google Pay you can opt-out at any time from Google Pay app settings. If you opt-out, you will not be able to earn Rewards from Google Pay.
Each Google Pay user can only use one set of Google Pay credentials that has not been previously registered with Google Pay, which includes but is not limited to a Google account, phone number and form of payment. Any of these unique Google Pay credentials must not have been used to register another Google Pay account.
Program Offers. Program Offers and Rewards may vary over time and between users. Some Offers may require you to activate them in order to be eligible, while others may enroll and allow you to start earning Rewards right away by performing Qualifying Payments or Qualifying Actions. Each Program Offer may be subject to Offer Specific Terms, as well as these Google Pay Rewards Terms. Offer Specific Terms may include limitations or restrictions including limits on the length of time you have to take advantage of the Offer or activation, limits on the maximum Reward that can be earned, the number of times a Program Offer may be redeemed, in-store vs. online only purchases, and minimum spend requirements. Program Offers may also be subject to availability. Offers made available to you through the Program are exclusive to you and cannot be reproduced, transferred, or used by anyone else. Offers may not be combined. If you perform an action or make a transaction that meets the terms of more than one Program Offer, such action or the transaction may only count toward one such Offer as determined by Google in its sole discretion. Offers that include merchant vouchers, discounts applied at checkout, promo codes or similar benefits may be subject to additional merchant terms, conditions, and restrictions including, without limitation, expiration dates. Google Pay is not responsible or liable for fulfillment or your use of any such vouchers, discounts, promo codes or benefits, which are fulfilled and provided by participating merchants or third party partners.
Qualifying Payments and Rewards. Whether a Qualifying Payment or Qualifying Action has been completed will be determined by Google in its sole discretion. Not all credit or debit cards are eligible for use with all Offers. Google reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any user from participating in an Offer, or to refuse to provide, reverse or rescind a Reward where we determine the user does not meet the Offer requirements including, but not limited to, any misuse of the Offer or fraud or suspicious transactions or activities under this Agreement or the Google Payments User Policy, or for returns, cancellations, credits, adjustments or chargebacks that occur after a Qualifying Payment or Qualifying Action. Some Rewards may require you to ‘claim’ them by ‘scratching’ a scratch card or ‘opening’ a gift box to reveal the Reward, or tapping a ‘claim’ button or doing a similar action. On average across all Google Pay US users, gift boxes claimed from October - December 2020 revealed a cash reward worth between $1 to $21. Range of possible cash rewards vary by gift box, as specified in applicable offer terms. Unless otherwise stated in the applicable Offer Specific Terms, unclaimed Rewards will remain valid for 45 days after receipt. Any Rewards you do not claim within 45 days of receipt are subject to expiry by Google, at its discretion and without further notice to you. Google will not have any liability or responsibility to you for your failure to claim or redeem a Reward. If you delete your Google Pay service or Google account, or if your account or service access is suspended, any Rewards that may have been pending or unclaimed at the time of such suspension, deletion or closure may be deemed forfeited and Google will have no liability to you for such Rewards. The total Rewards users can earn under the Program may be subject to caps or other restrictions by Google. In addition, certain Rewards may be subject to US tax reporting (e.g., IRS Forms 1099) and withholding. For these reasons, you may be asked to provide US tax information in connection with those Rewards. You are responsible for any tax obligations arising from Rewards or your participation in the Program. Rewards will vary and may include (but are not limited to) the following:
Card-Linked Offers. If you opt-in to Google Pay rewards, you can also choose to enroll one or more valid, eligible Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit or debit payment cards (each, a “Payment Card”) in card-linked Offers (“Card-Linked Offers”). Discover cards are not eligible. “Card-Linked Offers” is a part of Google Pay rewards that allows you to earn Rewards whenever you make a Qualifying Payment with your eligible enrolled card, even if the payment is not made using Google Pay (subject to applicable Officer Specific Terms). You do not need to enroll any cards in Card-Linked Offers to participate in Google Pay rewards, but doing so could give you access to a wider range of Offers and ways to complete Qualifying Payments.
4.1 Enrolling a Card in Card-Linked Offers.To enroll a Payment Card in Card-Linked Offers, add the card as a payment method in Google Pay, opt-in to Google Pay rewards, and authorize Card-Linked Offers for your Payment Card. You will need to authorize Card-Link Offers for each Payment Card you want to enroll, even if you have previously opted-in to Google Pay rewards. For each Payment Card you enroll, you authorize us to share your Payment Card information with your payment card network (e.g., Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) so it knows you enrolled in Card-Linked Offers. You also authorize your payment card network to track your transactions and share transaction data with Google Pay and our respective service providers to determine whether you have made a Qualifying Purchase and for other Program related and business purposes as described in these Google Pay Rewards Terms. There is no limit to the number of eligible Payment Cards you can enroll.
It is your responsibility to ensure your Payment Card information is accurate and up-to-date at all times. If an enrolled Payment Card is no longer valid or is lost or stolen, or if you receive a replacement card with a different account number or expiration date, you must log into your Google Pay account and add or update the Payment Card details in order to be eligible to receive Rewards using that Payment Card. If your Payment Card account number or other details has changed, you may be required to re-enroll the updated Payment Card as a new Payment Card in order for it to be eligible. After you enroll a Payment Card, it may take up to 1 hour for that Payment Card to be reflected and tracked in Card-Linked Offers.
4.2 Un-enrolling a Payment Card from Card-Linked Offers.You can un-enroll a Payment Card from Card-Linked Offers at any time in Google Pay app settings, or by either: (a) removing the Payment Card from your saved payment methods in the Google Pay app; or (b) opting out of Google Pay rewards in the Google Pay app settings. Opting out of Google Pay rewards will automatically un-enroll all cards from Card-Linked Offers.If you remove a Payment card from your saved payment methods in the Google Pay app, that Payment Card will no longer be enrolled in Card-Linked Offers. If you remove an enrolled Payment Card and then add it back to your payment methods, you will need to re-enroll that Payment Card in Card-Linked Offers if you want it to be eligible for Card-Linked Offers.
If you remove ALL previously enrolled Payment Cards from Card-Linked Offers but remain opted-in to Google Pay rewards, any progress toward fulfilling activated Card-Linked Offers will be maintained for up to 45 days after such un-enrollment, or until the Offer expires, whichever comes first. If you opt-out of Google Pay rewards altogether, you will immediately lose any progress you may have previously made toward Offer fulfillment.
4.3 Card and Transaction Eligibility. Not all Payment Cards or transactions are eligible for Card-Linked Offers. Card-Linked Offers are limited to Qualifying Payments processed through the Visa, MasterCard, or American Express payment card networks and supported payment card processors. If a Payment Card transaction is processed outside of a supported payment card network or payment card processor, transaction data will not be tracked or matched with an Offer.
Payment Cards not eligible for Card-Linked Offers include, without limitation, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express corporate and business purchasing cards, government, healthcare or insurance prepaid cards, and Visa Buxx. Discover cards are not eligible for Card-Linked Offers. Transaction types that may not be tracked by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, and are therefore ineligible for Card-Linked Offers include PIN-based purchases and payments made through third party digital wallet or payment apps, as well as purchases made through aggregation platform websites and apps (including without limitation restaurant delivery platforms like DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats). Do not use a Personal Identification Number (PIN) when paying for your purchases with your enrolled Payment Card if you want the transaction to be eligible for Rewards.
4.4 Double Enrollment. Card-Linked Offers is enabled with the support of third party service providers, including Rakuten Card Linked Offer Network, Inc. (“RCLON”) and Fidel Limited (“Fidel”). If your Payment Card is enrolled in both Card-Linked Offers and another third party loyalty or rewards program enabled by RCLON or Fidel, there may be participating merchants with offers in both programs. If you make a payment transaction that meets the terms of an offer from the same merchant in both programs, the transaction will only count toward one such offer as determined by Google or our third party service providers.
4.5 Data Collection, Use and Sharing. When you enroll a card in Card-Linked Offers, Google Pay, your payment card networks, participating merchants, and their respective service providers may collect, share and use information about your enrolled card and payment transactions (including the merchant name and location, transaction amount, time and date of authorization, settlement amount and settlement date) for the following purposes:
(i) Determining whether you have completed a Qualifying Purchase, your eligibility for Rewards, and otherwise enabling Card-Linked Offers;
(ii) Maintaining and facilitating the Program, including for customer support purposes, troubleshooting, monitoring and preventing fraud and abuse, and making Program improvements;
(iii) Creating Program related metrics, reporting and analytics. Such metrics, reports, or analytics may be disclosed in general marketing materials to encourage participation in the Program, or shared with prospective or participating merchants (including for campaign performance, transaction validation, or planning purposes);
(iv) Providing you with information about your historical use of the Program, such as qualifying transactions using your enrolled Payment Card; and
(v) Meeting any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to enforce this Agreement; detecting, preventing, or otherwise addressing fraud, security, or technical issues; or protecting against harm to the rights, property or safety of Google, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law.
Changes to the Program and the Agreement. If you do not agree with the Agreement, you must not participate in the Program. Google reserves the right at its sole discretion and in accordance with applicable law, to suspend, discontinue or change the Program, any Offer or Reward, or this Agreement at any time, with or without notice to you, and without any liability to you or to any third party. Your continued participation in the Program following any such change will constitute or acceptance of such change, including the Agreement as modified.
Other Terms. The terms of your purchase of any goods or services from a merchant are governed by your relationship with that merchant. We are not responsible for the goods or services displayed, purchased or paid for in connection with Offers; or merchants whose offers, products, or services are promoted in connection with such Offers. The Program may contain links to third-party websites and online services that are not owned or controlled by Google Pay. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for such websites and online services. In these Google Pay Rewards Terms:
(i) “include” or “including” means “including but not limited to,” and any example we give are for illustrative purposes and not meant to be exhaustive; and
(ii) “affiliate” means, with respect to a party, an entity that directly or indirectly controls, is controlled by or is under common control with such party. Google Pay rewards , Offers and Rewards are void where prohibited by applicable laws.
